Pros and cons

  • Red palette breaks up an all-green tank
  • Slender stems form a 'forest' effect
  • Propagates from side shoots
  • Heavy macro-nutrient consumer
  • Red color needs CO₂ and bright light
  • Requires regular pruning
  • Without iron supplementation, grows smaller

Description

One of the most popular 'red' aquarium species. Under bright light, lower leaves and shoot tips turn pink-red.

Care

Bright light + CO₂ are required for the red coloration. Without them it stays green.
