Bristlenose tackles algae, shrimp clean leftovers. Without barbs it would be boring — with them, chaos and beauty.

Tips & gotchas

  • 10+ minimum — fewer and they nip long-finned tankmates.
  • No bettas, angelfish, or gouramis — fins will get shredded.
  • Very active — need length, not height.
  • 30 % water change weekly.
